We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Crematorium Operative.
Standard core hours are Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:00. However, depending on business needs, you may be required to work between Monday and Saturday, within the hours of 06:00 to 20:00.
You’ll be an integral part of the team, taking an active role in dealing with members of the public, clients and third parties ensuring all aspects of day-to-day activities at the Crematorium run smoothly. This role can be physically demanding and will involve manual handling and using machinery and equipment.

What to expect...
- Carrying out the cremation of the deceased in accordance with statutory requirements safely and operating appropriate equipment in line with set guidelines and training.
- Arranging the Service Hall and other areas for services, ensuring they are prepared to the highest standard possible in accordance with pre-agreed arrangements.
- Attending and overseeing services and liaising with Funeral Directors, Clergy/Celebrants, the bereaved and members of the public before, during and after services.
- Ensuring the identification, storage, and final disposal of Ashes are undertaken and documented appropriately.
- Supporting the wider team to ensure the smooth running of every aspect of operations on site, including undertaking basic care, cleaning and maintenance of buildings, grounds, and ancillary equipment.
- Being proactive in community activities to promote the Crematorium and End of life services.
What we're looking for...
- IT literate and a competent user of MS Office.
- Great communication skills.
- Customer facing experience.
- Organised with strong attention to detail.
- Can display resilience and be comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
- High level of understanding, empathy, and compassion.
Training...
- Previous experience within the funeral industry is not required as we’ll provide full training.
- Travel to other sites will be required.
